Barrie Stephen salons are known for their charitable generosity and they've already got 2014 off to a good start, styling the hair of all the residents of a local homeless centre.
Artistic director, Neil Smith, and salon consultant, Sam Oxford - both of Barrie Stephen Hair in Anstey - spent the day at Loughborough's Falcon Centre, where they gave all 29 of the residents a new look for 2014.
As well as complimentary cutting and styling, residents also received a goodie bag of Eufora products as an extra confidence boost for the guests, who are all aged between 18 and 25.
Sam commented: "At Barrie Stephen, we’ve fundraised and donated money to charities such as LOROS hospice and the RSPCA, but we wanted to give our actual skills this year.
"We’ve trained for years to qualify, gain experience and become great hairdressers so utilising our talent is a great gift for others. We see in the salon all the time how a new haircut can completely lift a person’s mood and outlook and make them feel much better about themselves. So this is what we wanted to see happen for people who perhaps don’t have the means to come to the salon and get a confidence boost."
Sonia Watson, manager of The Falcon Centre (part of Youth Shelter) says: "It was a great treat for them. This is the first time we’ve had anything like this taking place for our residents."
