The stars of the small screen came out in force last night for the annual BAFTA Television awards.

Winners included X Factor for Best Entertainment Programme and Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders won the presigious Academy Fellowship Award.

With an array of fabulous frocks and gorgeous locks, we find out who the winners and losers were in the hair stakes.

"Love it! This worn in look is so now. Love the dark roots peeping through the blond for the ultimate glam rock  look. The undone curls adds natural and texture to Tess' fine hair. This look is what most of my clients want at the moment."

"Davina's dark, sultry locks always have impeccable shine. I love Davina but I'd really like to see her with a different look. She opts to wear her hair straight and sleek for every event and its beconing predictable. I want to see her locks with a with a bit more "va va voom"- more volume, more movement, more sex appeal, all easily  achieved with Velcro rollers!"

Liz has a very soft and elegant hair up. Liz is one of the few that seems to have made some effort. I like how the stylist has worked the hair to the side to balance out the off the shoulder dress. To achieve this look, section the hair from ear to ear and place a low pony tail to the side. I would put some curl into the pony tail and the rest of the hair, then back comb the top and work into the pony tail at the back. Loosely pin in the rest of the pony tail. Style the fringe to the side and you have an elegant hair up.

Michelle looks like she just rolled out of bed - a bit more effort here would not have gone amiss! This isn't really suitable for the red carpet which is a shame as she's got lovely hair.

To achieve this look tip your head upside down, blast off with a hair dryer and the job is done.

"Patsy Palmer is blessed with naturally thick, glossy hair.  Her red carpet hairstyle is a classic. The half updo with soft flicks adds a bit of glamour without looking too over done.  Patsy has a very pale complexion so to add some warmth I'd add a side sweeping fringe.  Patsy knows what style suits her and sticks to them but I'd love her to be a bit more adventurous!  I'd also love to see her rocking the red carpet with a more daring, intense shade of red with a choppy fringe. "Mischa Barton- love this look! The eye skimming blunt fringe toughens up her loose bohemian waves,  drawing attention to her gorgeous eyes. I love her darker tone-it adds warmth to her peachy complexion. Her  toffee highlights looks as if her hair is naturally kissed by the sun- Mischa is bringing a bit of sunny LA sunshine the red carpet!"

Not really red carpet material, this is a very everyday look. I think she also could have made a bit more effort for the red carpet. To achieve this look I would take a centre parting and throw in some heated rollers, let them cool and just tousle the hair out adding a bit of hair spray for hold.

Both looked great on the red carpet - their hair is blow-dried into lovely styles with lots of body, no frizz and finished to look very glossy.

Jennifer's is dried with a lot of root lift and back from her face I would use a few heated rollers to get that great finish. Dawn's is dried with a lot of root lift but very sleek; to get that beautiful finish use straightners and a good gloss spray
