Joseph Debrincat from Foxy Salon in Melbourne, Australia, picked up the top prize at the La Biosthetique Beauty Stylist Awards 2014, which was hosted at a ceremony in Paris.
The awards, now in its tenth year, sees finalists from 15 countries look to clinch the title after winning their national competition. Spencer Farrer-Jones represented the UK with a soft bob but it was a short vibrant look by Joseph Debricant that impressed the judges.
The event started with a tour of the beautiful La Biosthetique Paris headquarters on the Arc de Triomphe. The former Armani building is a haven of tranquillity with modern art and fresh flowers juxtaposed with the white-packaged hair and beauty products and simple styling imagery.
The event then moved to the fashionable YoYo Club with a French Style Icons show taking influences from Brigitte Bardot, Coco Chanel, Vanessa Paradis and Lou Doillion. Creative directors Stephane Galleon and Alexander Dinter created soft, sexy styles with a nod to history but given a modern update.
The audience was taken on a journey from the 1920s through the 60s with a performance by a Vanessa Paradis lookalike before the stage was taken over by flamboyant dancing girls.
