Are redheads a dying breed?

Have you spotted a drop in the number of redheads coming into your salon? If not, you may do soon because experts are predicting that redheads could be extinct as early as 2060.The latest edition of National Geographic magazine says that just two per cent of the world's population is naturally redheaded. And, as global intermingling has reduced the chances of reds pairing up and creating their own redheaded off-spring, there is real potential that they could become a thing of the past. Anyhow, we think it would be a crying shame if redheads were no more. So as our tribute to the world of red we've put together our list of the top redheaded icons.5. In at five is Girls Aloud's non-smiling Nicola Roberts. By her own admission she's not the prettiest in the band, but those look-at-me locks ensure she stands out from the crowd. 4. As one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood and an Oscar winner to boot, there's no question that Nicole Kidman has earned her place on any list of iconic red-heads. 3. Another girl-bander comes in third. Geri Halliwell may have dabbled with blonde from time to time, but we think she's at her hottest as a fiery red. 2. Prince Harry may not have the hippest of hairdos, but he's managed to cultivate an air of cool and bagged himself the lovely Chelsey making him our number two. 1. Top of the pile (as if it was even a contest!) is Hairdresser Journal International's very own deputy editor Ruth Hunsley (pictured below).
