April snapshot competition winner announced

The Queen of Amazona (pictured) is the winner of the April Snapshot competition!

The image, created by Croatian hairdresser Iggy Popoulous, was chosen by UK Paul Mitchell Platform Artist Club member Amanda Harvey who loved the image's use of colour.

"I chose this shot because the overall image is aesthetically pleasing and cohesive," says Amanda. "The stylist showed a good choice of colour and colour placement, good use of colour vs texture (got a nice little story going there), also, they named the piece.

"All in all 'A' for effort, with a great result. It looks like it was well thought out and planned down to the finer details. I love the extreme asymmetry of it all, and how the overall look still feels balanced."

A delighted Iggy explained: "My inspiration for Queen of Amazona is a wilderness of Amazon's forest and river. Therfore I decided on a combination of blue and green colors.

"Amazon are solid and strong women, so I decided on a solid line haircut. This is outlined 3D effects and colors in the depths of the base tone, play hide and seek different parts. Colors are graphic, pointed, and almost natural like nature."

The Paul Mitchell goodies kit containing a Paul Mitchell Medium, Large and Extra Large Round Brush, PM Sculpting Brush, PM Paddle Brush, PM Detangler Comb, PM Styling Brush and a pair of PM Curved Shears is on its way to Iggy.
