In the first of a new series, Andrew Barton chooses the celebrity and catwalk hairstyles that have inspired his career - including his ultimate hair icon.
Favourite catwalk look
"My favorite fashion catwalk look is the wedge roll, as seen at the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2011 show. At the Andrew Barton Salon, we've been using this look a lot for girls on a Friday night out. We love that you can transform long hair by rolling it up to look like a short, neat haircut. This side parted style is super sleek."

Favourite celebrity look
"My favorite celebrity look of the moment is Rihanna's ultra blonde café au lait colour. At the salon, we love that she's such a colour chameleon and realises just how much colour can transform her look and image. This colour is totally modern and sultry."

Favourite all-time hair icon
"My ultimate hair icon is Deborah Harry circa 1980. Hot, sexy blonde tousled hair - the original rock chick. Slightly thatched, tatty edges and with an eyelash-tickling fringe; it's still a hot look. I did her hair once for a shoot and when I asked her what she wanted, she said: "Come on man; you know my look!" Of course, I did!"
