Andrew barton: 'the time was right to go out on my own'
Ten Years Younger resident hairdresser Andrew Barton is about to launch his first Andrew Barton Salon and he couldn't be more excited about going it alone.
"As you may have heard by now, I am about to open the first ever Andrew Barton Salon and I am just beside myself with excitement.
"It was a massive decision to go out on my own after so many years at Saks and TONI & GUY but it was absolutely the right decision and, having spent the last two years building my brand and my profile, it is absolutely the right time.
"My product range is doing well, I have an electrical range and brushes that are out there and creating a buzz and I have just launched a range of clip-ins into Sally's, so having my next salon is the last piece in the jigsaw.
"It took a while to find the right site for the salon, but I have found the perfect venue in Covent Garden and I am now working with designers and architects to make the most of the 1,400 square foot in time to open on the first week of November.
"Another exciting development is that I have a new colour and product partner in Redken.
"Redken is a young, dynamic and exciting brand with lots of opportunities, so it feels like a perfect fit for the Andrew Barton brand - and it feels like I am going home because the first salon I worked in was a Redken salon so it's wonderful to be back!
"With less than three months until the grand opening, I have already started the recruitment drive and the response has been phenomenal. It is great to know that people want to work with me and my hairdressing philosophies.
"Over the next five years I want to create a small boutique brand of 15 salons and I am looking to create something fresh and different. I want to build a great customer care experience but I also want to create great careers with fantastic pay for my people.
"As well as the salon, the Andrew Barton creative team has already been assembled. We have shows and seminars booked in for the end of this year and early next year so in lots of ways it's business as usual - just working for the Andrew Barton brand rather than a salon group.
"The next few months promise to be very exciting and you'll be able to read all about it on HJi."
