American Crew UK's Face Off 2013 brought men's hairdressers out in force this month, with more than 700 guests descending on The Point venue in Manchester to celebrate the competition's winners and finalists in a James Bond themed extravaganza.

This year the men's styling competition attracted a record number of entries with judges, including HJ Men editor Matthew Batham and celebrity barber Chris Foster, helping to select the 20 finalists who were honoured on the night.

Before the winners and finalists were announced, guests were treated to a Bond-inspired catwalk show, featuring more than 50 male models in various Bond-inspired guises - including those infamous blue trunks. Obviously the focus was on the hair, which was the result of two days of hard work by the American Crew UK artistic team, led by Dominique Rohde.

By the time the finalists were announced, the crowd were in a heightened state of excitement and ready to cheer on their colleagues.

From the 20 finalist, who all took to the stage to collect framed versions of their entries, five special awards were presented, including that for the overall winner of Face Off 2013.
Taking top honours in the Face Off 2013 were:

Winner: Miguel Gutierez, Melogy, London
Second Place: Gordon Ritchie, Rainbow Room International, Glasgow
Third Place: Joth Davies, Savills Barbers, Sheffield
Oxygen Models Choice Award: Dominic Ackah-Amihere, Urban Qtr, Beverley
Asahi Choice Award: Amie Williams, Hooka, Wood Street, Liverpool

Winner Miguel will jet off the Los Angeles in late January 2013 to take part in the Global final

of Face Off, competing against winners from five other nations to create an American Crew-inspired look at the famous Milk Studios.

Both runners up will take part in an HJ and HJ Men sponsored photoshoot in 2013, with the results appearing in the pages of HJ Men.

With the main business of the night complete, guests were invited to party the night away to a live DJ.

It was a night to remember - and not just because of those blue trunks!
