The Royal Albert Hall once again played host to the Alternative Hair Show for 2013 - and the cream of international hairdressing talent was represented on stage.
Nineteen inspiring avant-garde shows saw hairdressers from across the globe showcase their work, in presentations which ranged from theatrical to simply beautiful.
Hosted by Alternative Hair Show founder Tony Rizzo, the evening raised over £180,000 for the Fighting Leukemia foundation and saw hairdressing legends John Frieda, Toni Mascolo and John Rainey receive special recognition awards.

Anne Veck, England - The Jazz Age
Taking inspiration from the 1920s, Anne's shimmying show featured a sleek bob and dressed-out waves, but also curls formed into hat shapes for a more avant-garde take on the trend.
Gogen, Italy - Initiation
A collection that was all about balance, with perfectly crafted bobs in a variety of shapes and sizes all brought to life through vibrant colour placement combining tradition and modernity.
Fehringer, Austria - Morph
Taking inspiration from voodoo priestesses and Day of the Dead celebrations, the show saw spectacular headpieces in the shape of oversized skulls with sculpted updos to match.
E Salon, Australia - Cryptogram
Colour, form and texture combined for a collection of hairstyles that showcased the versatility of the Australian salon team's skills.
Dmitry Vinokurov, Russia - Liberality
A typically flamboyant show from some of hairdressing's best storytellers, with looks packed full of history and drama. Taking inspiration from their home country, the Russian team created avant-garde tsarinas with sculpted braids forming crowns and tiaras.
Carlo Bay, Italy - Fashion Sculpture
Celebrating the strength in beauty, this pared-back collection saw luscious high-shine curls, intricate braids and glossy waves presented alongside powerful gymnasts.
Bundy Bundy, Austria - Who Am I?
Sculptural shapes in the hair were reflected through outfit choice for a show that was all about creating a striking silhouette, from inverted triangles to spherical creations.
Mikel Luzea, Spain - What?
Inspiration came from uniforms, with gents' hair shaped into silhouettes inspired by military hats and complemented with styled facial hair.
Electric Hairdressing, England - Film Noir
Live from London, there was more than a hint of Brit coll in this collection - from white sculpted curls seemingly shaped on Beefeaters' hats to classic Sassoon-inspired bobs. Umbrellas, sock garters and tailoring added to the mood.
Mahogany Hairdressing, England - Reflection
Shades of blue were shot through the collection, which celebrated the versatility and beauty of short hair.
Kohsuke Visual Network, Japan - Chinese Empress CIXI
Inspiration came from the East, fittingly bringing a hint of home to the British show. Rolled fringes, tapered lengths and rich jewel-tone colour provided the perfect base for spectacular headpieces.
Klaus Peter Ochs, Germany - Wonderland
Old-fashioned romance pure and simple, with fluffy curls, bows, and damsel-in-distress hats formed solely from hair creating theatrical belles of the ball.
Hajas, Hungary - The Secret of Colours
The mood was one of night and day, working with light and shade and reflected through contrasting dark and light hues and small and exaggerated shapes for a collection that was all about contrast.
TIGI Internationval Creative Team, England - Pilgrimage
A breathtakingly powerful monochrome collection, which brought snow to the inside of Royal Albert Hall for a spectacular finale.
Sanrizz, England - The Enigma Chain
Yellow was the focal point of this collection, introduced through peekaboo panels and brought to life in full with a dazzling dip-dye lengths through raven-black lengths.
Saco, England - Static
Light and balance were key to this collection, which was a glimpse at
Saco's Static collection - launched at Salon International earlier that day. Architecturally-inspired shapes were brought to life through shades of yellow, grey and green.
Robert Masciave, England - Les Esorches
Birds of a feather flocked together in this collection, which combined elaborate winged headpieces and feather-inspired colour.
Peter Mark, Ireland - Celtic Darkness
Narnia served as the inspiration for this folksy collection, which saw horn-shaped headpieces combined with textured curls for a mystical, ethereal feel.
Nicholas French, America - Cinematic
The son of
Freddy French brought his father's hairdressing techniques bang up to date with exquisitely elaborate shapes built with classic skills.
