All in the name of charity
There's never a day at camp Barton when there's nothing to do - like most salon owners, running a salon business is all-consuming. My head never stops buzzing and I'm lucky that I've got a great team of business partners, PRs, PAs and agents to help me to run my business. I don't know other people do it!
And I've got no kids to run around after! How do those who have kids cope? One of those wonder mums is Lizzi who you may have read about in HJ's letters page last week. She runs a busy salon business called Spencers, named after her physically and mentally disabled son Spencer.
I met her recently at Wonder-mums a function that celebrates mum's that do it all. I was so touched by her life and the passion she has for charity that I asked her if she'd like to have a day off from her life and come and spend a day with us at my salon in Covent Garden. We had such a lovely day with her.
She's now trying to raise money for HAIRraising as her son was treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital she's going to shave her hair off - a brave move for a stunning woman who as long long hair - and asked me to do it for her. Please check her out and support her.
This week was full of glamour as I was asked to style hair for the Tinkled Pink campaign, it's an annual charity event by Asda that raises lots of money for breast cancer. There was a glamorous photo shoot that will appear in all the daily national press. We were shooting Gabriella Chilmi and Zoe Salmon among others and it was great fun.
The team at the salon are all a buzz preparing for the show we're planning for Redken Tribe event which will celebrate 50 years of Redken. I hope you can come along it's a brilliant night out and with a cracking show we can't wait!
Talking of craic, I'm away in Ireland next week presenting some exciting fashion seminars for Redken.
Teaching and presenting seminars has to be one of the favourite bits of my job, it's great meeting a group of people and going on a creative journey together.
