As Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge posed outside hospital yesterday with the new prince, all eyes were on that blow-dry - smooth, shiny and immaculate, as ever.
But what also caught my eye was Kate's colour - gone was the glossy all-over brunette, replaced with a summery sprinkle of golden honey highlights around the face.
We haven't seen much of the Duchess over the last few weeks, so I think it's safe to say that her new colour was probably done well in advance of her due date even if the blow-dry was performed bedside.
The colour change is super-simple, as Kate's style always is, but it does wonders for her skin and is the perfect no-maintenance summer upgrade for a new mum.
And while colour might not be the first thing on every mother's mind in the run up the big day, for those clients that are dedicated to looking immaculate at all times this is the perfect low-maintenance, high-impact look.
Colour expert and salon owner, Karine Jackson, says: "Kate’s slightly ombre/balayage colour is a great technique for a new mum, as by keeping the lights broken up and away from the scalp there’s no high maintenance regrowth.
"This shade will look good as it grows out because it’s so natural. We always encourage mums to be to make life as easy as possible and colour plays a big part in this."
