When your salon is based in Hanover Square, directly opposite the offices of Vogue, you can't afford to let your image get tardy. That is why the team at Mahogany Hairdressing decided it was time to give its flagship site a major makeover.
The remit was to create a contemporary, fashionable space while maintaining the grandeur of the historic building.
The listed nature of the building did add limitations on how the interior could be developed, but working with the original features has helped create a stunning salon. The upstairs colour area features a grand vaulted ceiling with period detail courtesy of William Morris, painted white for a sense of space and light.
Downstairs the ceiling has a Moroccan-inspired pattern, although still painted white, offsetting the natural wooden flooring. Original features include ionic-style pillars, standing as a reminder of the building's history in the predominantly contemporary space.
