It's time to plan your summer online campaign, says Salon Guru’s managing director, Phil Evans. Here's his top tips for refreshing your online presence.
1. Refresh your homepage to reflect the season
As a client or potential client arrives on your website, it should reflect that summer days are on their way. Summer should be the immediate impact. This assures clients that you are professional and on-trend and inspires them with confidence in your business and your ability to prepare them for the season.
2. Create a summer product guide
Keep summer haircare products high on the radar. Providing information about the latest hair hero products for summer and guidance on how to use them tells your clients that you work with relevant and up-to-date products and can offer them personalised expertise.
3. Put together a summer trend collection
Inspire your clients' imaginations with this season's trends. You should showcase bobs, lobs, hair-ups, short pixie cuts, red carpet-inspired updos and the latest festival braids to encourage clients to visit the salon and update their looks regularly and for every occasion.
4. Showcase a summer colour collection
Showcase creamy summer blondes, rich brunettes lightened with ribbons of caramel or bespoke balayage colouring techniques that your clients will adore. Let your website visitors browse beautiful summer hair colours to prompt immediate colour bookings.
5. Send out a pre-summer email
May and June are the perfect months to send out a mass email to your clients. It's the time of year when even the most unpredictable clients are considering a new do before they jet off on their holidays. Tempt them with a special offer or inspire them with new ideas and encourage them to prepare their hair for the holiday season. Include retail products with UV protection, oils/travel size shampoos, and so on.
6. Get socially savvy for summer
Social media is a brilliant and relaxed environment to influence and educate your clients. Don't just create your own content; it's good to share. Share articles from the brands that you work with, the glossies such as Vogue and Cosmopolitan and images and galleries from HJi.
7. Educate your clients on summer haircare
Never is there a better time of year to educate your clients on how to care for their hair. Flyers with top 10 tips on how to avoid dry, damaged hair this summer would be perfect. They're easy and simple to write and incredibly useful for your clients. Don't forget to recommend your favourite summer hair product to encourage additional retail sales.
8. Arrange a post-holiday email
As summer draws to an end and clients return from their holidays feeling fabulous, it is an absolute must that you prompt their next salon visit. An email that encourages a colour boost for faded hair or tempts clients in with hair repairing treatments for dehydrated locks can speed up visits. Post-summer is a great time to find new clients. People have been away and reflected - they come back ready to make changes and look for something new. Why not include a special recommend a friend offer on your email.
