Plaits have been
2014's hottest hair trend - here are three quick and easy braid ideas to see you through the last few late summer days, with advice by Sophia Hadjisergis at Jones & Payne, Shoreditch.
Look one
1. Prep hair with a light mist of volume spray like Unite Boosta throughout. Dry in gently with cool air.
2. Section the hair into a side parting and create a loose wave throughout using a medium wand. Use a texture spray like Unite Texturiza throughout to create volume and separation.
3. Bring hair round to one side parting into two equal sections.
4. Holding a section in each hand, twist to the right to create a rope braid.
5. Continue to the ends and secure each with a band.
6. When the rope braid is secured at the end, pull sections out to create texture.
Look two
1. Part hair to the side and prep with a texture spray like Unite Texturiza throughout. Dry in, then create a loose curl throughout the hair with a medium tong.
2. Take an one-and-a-half inch section around the hairline on both sides of the parting.
3. Starting from the parting, braid hair in an upside down braid technique so the braid is sitting on top of the section. Secure with band. Repeat on the opposite side.
4. Sprinkle Unite Expanda dust onto the crown area and backcomb to create volume and texture. Smooth back slightly .
5. Gather the rest of the hair and the braids back into a messy bun and pin into position, securing with grips.
Look three
1. Part hair into a middle parting, taking a two-inch section around the hairline on both sidesof the parting.
2. Braid both sections to the scalp using the upside down braid technique so the braid sits on top of the section. Carry on to the tips of the hair and secure with a band.
3. Randomly section the rest of the hair at the back into two or three sections. Braid from the top of the section to the ends and secure with bands.
4. Wrap the braids around the head, twisting them around each other and securing into place with pins and grips.
5. When all braids are in place and secure, pull out random sections to create texture. Finish with Unite Texturiza to hold.
