The Wella Professionals Trend Vision International Final 2011 took place in New York, and as well as seeing winners announced the show also saw the launch of 2012's trends. The four looks, which will form the basis of next year's competition, were interpreted live on stage at the grand final with stunning creative shows from The Doves, D&J Ambrose, Mark Hayes and the Sasson Creative Team, and Dmitry Vinokurov.

Ablaze with sensuality, Blaze is the femme fatale. She wears her hair short, sharp and bold, with contrasting colours. She is a playful, strong-willed diva with her own definitive style. Flamboyant fuchsia accents are set against a sober black, combining femininity with androgyny. Sonya and Christopher Dove showcased their interpretation of the trend, with bright hues giving a twist to bold shapes and precision lines.

Natural materials and the values of authenticity are being rediscovered. Clothes, furniture and accessories are not seen as disposable anymore, but as an expression of personal style. We shift away from status demonstration to true class. D&J Ambrose presented OTT natural shapes, with gold leaf exaggerating the textures.

The ultimate beauty perfection is a quest for new sensations, for purity and light, for unseen, unfelt textures, free from earthly compromise. Mark Hayes and the Sassoon creative team created stunning precision lines, which oozed with texture, shine and delicate shades of blondes, amythest and silver.

The scene stealer has the glamour of Studio 54, the experimental creativity of an Andy Warhol mixing with the VIP society, the sharp silhouetted Yves Saint Laurent evening suit for women on a night on the town. This is post-modern feminism - purposeful, orchestrated and completely self aware. Dmitry Vinokurov took a step back in time for a show full of colourful disco divas. A rainbow of pinks, purples, blues and yellows walked the runway.
