1960s hairstyles have been voted as the best historical barnets in a new poll by NetVoucherCodes.co.uk.
The survey asked more than 600 shoppers which of the last six decades had the most inspirational hair, with the swinging sixties named as the most memorable.
Twiggy-style crops, Sassoon bobs and Beatles moptops were all to thank for the era being top of the charts, taking 33% of the votes.
The iconic styles of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis and James Dean helped the 1950s secure second place, while the 1990s took third place thanks largely to the decade's most famous 'do; the Rachel.
A spokesperson for NetVoucherCodes.co.uk commented: "It's really interesting to see how an iconic celebrity's hair can define the style of an entire decade.
"The perfect example of this is the' 90s. The decade gave us some proper hair disasters like Justin Timberlake's ringlets, but it came third purely on the strength and popularity of the Rachel.
The list in full is as follows:
1. 1960s – 33%
2. 1950s – 27%
3. 1990s – 19%
4. 1970s – 12%
5. 2000s – 8%
6. 1980s – 1%
