As the world's leading colour prediction agency announce their latest trends, we take a look at the hair that matches the
Pantone Fall 2014 colours perfectly.
Following on from their colour of the year,
Radiant Orchid, the new season brings nine other colours that are set to make an impact in fashion.
And while Pantone are really talking about clothes when they announce the ten colours to take note of for Autumn/Winter, we think they work just as well as hair hues - for your braver guests and editorial work, if not the everyday colour client!
"This is a season of untypical colours,"
says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. "They're more reflective of the imagination and ingenuity, which makes for an artful collection of colours and combinations not bound by the usual hues for fall. There is a feminine mystique that is reflected throughout the palette, inspired by the increasing need for women everywhere to create an individual imprint."
Take a look at some of the great looks from the
HJi gallery which we work think work perfectly with this season's ten top colours!
Radiant Orchid
Pantone call it, "a captivating and adaptable shade" and we think this
Hooker & Young image is about as captivating as it gets.
Royal Blue
It's described as, "both evocative and dignified" and this award-winning shot from
Seung Ki-Baek at Rush certainly shows a dignified way to add a splash of colour.
Aluminium
Aluminium is called, "a futuristic stainless steel shade that serves as a complex neutral". This shot by
Lisette Veldink takes just a hint of that futuristic colour and softens it through the cut and styling.
Aurora Red
Moving into a more salon-friendly shade, Aurora Red is described as, "a more sophisticated shade that adds verve and spark". The vibrant colour by Faye Turner in
this Sean Dawson shot is a perfect new-season update for redheads.
Misted Yellow
Pantone say this 'optimistic' colour, "adds a ray of sunlight and warmth" which is just what we need for winter. This
Michael Kelly shot makes us smile too!
Sangria
Another salon-friendly shade, Sangria is described as, "an exotic red that evokes a sense of glamorous adventures and faraway destinations". This
Mahogany image oozes a modern glamour with that lustrous shine and dynamic shape.
Mauve Mist
Mauve Mist is, "a romantic and elegant purple shade, [which] reminds us of the deco era". The bold stripes in
this Angus M team shot also echo the bold lines of art deco architecture and that shade is pure elegance.
Cognac
Cognac - a "classy and cultured brown" - is described as taking "typical autumnal colour to a sumptuous realm" and we can't help but agree. This sophisticated duo of shades by
Shanna de Kruger oozes the same elegance.
Bright Cobalt
It's all in the "slightly green undertone" for Bright Cobalt, which Pantone say "offers a subtle twist on the traditional cobalt blue." We say go bold, like this
fab shot from Fudge.
Cypress
Cypress is called a "majestic and powerful green" and
this Vivienne Mackinder look is certainly striking. Who dares go green? When it looks this good, why not?
