Happy Birthday Katy Perry! Currently rocking
Muppet-inspired red hair, there's barely a shade that the pop princess hasn't worn. Pink, green, blue and purple are just some of the shades the larger-than-life cartoon queen has worn, inspiring plenty of copycut colour experiments amongst clients.
It's not all been plain sailing - who could forget
the ginger spell when her black to blonde didn't quite work out? These days colourist to the stars, Daniel Moon, is responsible for many of her most outrageous looks - long may their colourful relationship last!
In honour of Katy's birthday, here are 10 of the colours she's rocked the hell out of over the years.
Nice and Natural Black
OK, she's naturally a blonde - but this glossy black shade is what we're most used to seeing Katy wear. Always super shiny and immaculately coiffed, this shade oozes vintage glamour, much like fellow jet-haired vintage fiend, Dita von Teese.
Animal Red
Katy's latest colour update has seen her with red dip-dyed ends inspired, she says, by Animal from the Muppets. The colour is cool on its own, but we love it styled in these contrasting coloured buns.
Blonde Bombshell
Katy is a natural blonde, but all those years of colouring her hair black meant it wasn't easy to get back to her natural hair. Don't we all know
that feeling. After several attempts - and that ginger spell we mentioned above - she got back to her blonde roots. Hate to say it, Katy, but we preferred the black!
The Temporary Option
Katy doesn't always rely on professional colour to get the look - sometimes it's easier to fake it with extensions. These pastel-hued clip-ins make for a quick and easy transformation, which for a colour chameleon like her might be a better option. We love the My Little Pony palette!
The Life Aquatic
Blue, green and purple don't sound like the most obvious choice of colours to wear together, but Katy pulls it off with her kitsch, cartoonish style. This faux pony with a plaited base makes for a great show look - and means that when she got
slimed later, she had way less shampooing to do.
The Blue Rinse
Katy doesn't always fake it when she's going for a bold shade, as this blue beehive proves. While it could look a little Marge Simpson on some, she makes it look perfectly chic.
Oscar the Grouch
Slime-green has been one of Katy's latest colour choices and while it's not the most obvious option, it's another one that she's managed to make work.
Peach Fuzz
Somewhere between her blonde and pink shades, Katy debuted a pastel peach shade. Although it's not as bold as many of her colour choices, this soft shade is still seriously cool.
Barbie Pink
Of course cartoon queen Katy has had pink hair - and a pink jacket and matching makeup to boot. This is pure candyfloss, confectionery pink - no pastel washes or subtle shades here.
Vampish Violet
There's something seriously spooky about this violet shade, particularly when paired with the vampish makeup. Halloween-inspired it might be, but purple hair has never looked so good.
