Worldskills uk midlands regional finalists announced

Finalists of the Midlands heat of the WorldSkills UK beauty and related therapies competitions have been announced. 

The suite of competitions - organised and supported by leading awarding body for the hair and beauty sector, VTCT - comprises: beauty therapy; aromatherapy; reflexology; nail art; nail enhancements; and media make-up.

 

 

 

Subject to ratification, the winners for each category are:

 

Beauty Therapy Intermediate (joint winners)

Katie Meredith - North East Worcestershire College

Natalie Hope - University College Birmingham

Beauty Therapy Advanced

Stephanie Griffiths - Warrington Collegiate

Aromatherapy

Janet Scott - Abingdon & Witney College

Reflexology

Leigh Ferron - South Nottingham College

Nail Art Intermediate

Bethany Hewitt - Warrington Collegiate

Nail Enhancements Intermediate

Aimee Kerrigan - Warrington Collegiate

Nail Enhancements Advanced

Rachel Walton - Warrington Collegiate

Media Make-Up

Tara Barzetovic - North Warwickshire College

 

The top 10 highest point scorers from each of the regional events taking place across the UK will be invited to participate in the UK final, held at Barnfield College, Luton, on 6 June 2009.

Subject to eligibility, outstanding national winners of the advanced beauty therapy competition may be invited to compete for a place with the UK squad for the international WorldSkills competition.

[ ] The next international WorldSkills competition is being held in the UK in 2011.  Beauty therapy is one of approximately 40 skills that will be showcased at the international competition.
