Women prepared to spend on looking good

Research conducted for QVC - the shopping channel - has revealed that women, and men, are prepared to pay in order to look good, despite the gloomy economy. The story in the Daily Mail demonstrates just how much women spend on everything from body and facial care to their hands and hair. With an average spend of £405 per year being spent on salon appointments for cut and colour, the amount rose to £717 per year on maintaining their body. For men, the average spend on hair per annum is £179 with most saying a good body is more important than anything else.

To me, these figures seem low but I would be interested to hear what you think? You will know what the average spend is for each client per visit and how often they come to you, and I am confident that this would add up to more than £405 per annum.

For many women, their hair cut and colour is their 'crowning glory' seen by all and judged by many and through the women that I know who are not working in the industry, they have maintained their salon appointments and haircare routines despite uncertainty around job security.
