Jamie Benny at RUSH Hair won HJ's Newcomer of the Year at the 2014 British Hairdressing Awards. We caught up with Jamie to find out what a win meant to him.
How did it feel to have finalised for the awards?
It was amazing to finalise. It has always been my dream to win - ever since I started working at RUSH Hair as an assistant. The feeling of getting through was incredibly overwhelming and such an exciting feeling at the same time.
How did it feel when your name was announced as the winner?
I couldn't believe it. At first it was a dream come true, such an amazing feeling to be recognised for doing something I love.
What is the value of winning a British Hairdressing Award?
It comes with incredible value as it creates a platform for you to become more established within the industry.
What advice would you give to others when thinking of entering the awards?
Don't hold back, try and push the creative boundaries as much as you can and always make sure you are 100% happy with what you have created.
