Winners in men's hairdressing in 2014

With men’s hairdressing and barbering on the rise, 2014 saw the sector recognised in numerous high profile awards and competitions. Here’s a selection of some of this year’s winners. HJ’s Men’s Hairdresser of the Year Jamie Stevens of Jamie Stevens, London entered the Hall of Fame after winning this title for the third time at this year’s British Hairdressing Awards. L’Oréal Colour Trophy Men’s Image Award DKY Hair, Bangor took home the prestigious Men’s Image Award at the L’Oreal Colour Trophy. The fashion-focused look was complemented by another 2014 major trend – a full beard.
HJ’s Barber of the Year Miguel Gutierrez returned from a year of travelling the globe as the Nomad Barber to win this title. The live final was held at Salon International where Miguel battled it out with five other finalists to take home the trophy.
Men's Hairdressing Federation Image Competition Stewart Martin from Truman's of Norwich & Razors Edge was the winner of the first Men’s Hairdressing Federation Image Competition. As part of his prize, Stewart collaborate with MHFED ambassador and hairdressing superstar Desmond Murray in reproducing his image along with a top styling team.
AIPP Awards Michael Francos of D&J Ambrose won the Best Mens’ collection category in the prestigious worldwide AIPP awards. He picked up his trophy duringa ceremony held as part of the Alternative Hair Show 2014 at the Royal Albert Hall. here's an image from his winning collection.
BBA Masters The British Barbers’ Association (BBA), crowned three winners in its annual BBA Masters Competition, sponsored by Structure. The title of Creative Master went to Filip Cerri (pictured) from Daniel Granger Hairdressing in Northampton. The Classic Master winner was Adam Cripps from House 76 in Uxbridge. Winning the first Pattern Master category was- Danny Raggo from Raggos Hair Studio in Basingstoke.
NHF Best of British The National Hairdressers’ Federation held its second Best of British competition in 2014, with men’s hairdressing recognised in three categories. The winners were: Clark Butler, Gareth Clark Hair for Men, Didcot - Male Fashion Look On Trend (open to students and trainees) Reef Healy, Gary Pearce Mens Hair, Huddersfield - Male Fashion Look On Trend (open to all) Kade Burgess (pictured), Image Barber, Bedford - Afro Caribbean Male Look
