Wigs continue to be one of the hottest hair trends of the Spring/Summer 2014 season, with hyper-fake looks at influential shows by both Chanel and Alexander McQueen.
We first saw wigs at Marc Jacobs in New York,
where Guido Palau created skater-boy bowl cuts for each model. This was swiftly followed in London, where Sam McKnight created black bobs at
L'Wren Scott and TONI&GUY took a turn towards twenties sci-fi at
Krystof Strozyna. In Milan it was mop-tops all round at
Fendi, where Sam McKnight once again wielded the scissors.
Already in Paris we've seen
Veronique Branquinho showcase matching 60s style - and yesterday saw Chanel and Alexander McQueen also take a turn to the wonderful world of wigs.
At Chanel it was, once again, Sam McKnight taking charge, with matching flicky wigs in blonde, brunette and black worn by each model for a uniform look. He told
Style.com that the look was, "a cross between Darth Vader and a seventies flick" and revealed that hair was prepped with lashings of hairspray and gel to create stiff, paintbrush-like quality - well, what else for a show that was all about the art world?

For Fendi hair had a more industrial feel - part metal wig, part helmet. Guido Palau worked with designer Sarah Burton to create the matching armour, which was inspired by everything from
Tron to the roaring twenties. Guido told
Style.com that, as with many of the other wig moments we've seen the look was designed to provide, "instant character" and to "unify" the models.
Less glamorous? The sponges pinned to the models' heads to prevent helmets from wobbling while they walked!
