What will you be wearing in 2010?

Welcome to my new blog, red haute hair, where I will be looking at everything that is exciting and fabulous about hair and fashion. Afterall, hair is the ultimate fashion accessory and with the flick of a wrist you can get a brand new look in minutes. Everyone knows what it is like to have a bad hair day (believe me I've not had a good hair day yet this year!) but thanks to product technology anything is possible. Quiffs, movement, volume, pompadours - there was something for everyone in 2009. So what's going to be mega in 2010? Here's my predictions.

twenty8twelve1.jpg1 At one with nature. As the recession continues, hair will take a lead from Mother Nature with textures and colours that are bold, beautiful and natural. Healthy hair will be top of the list - gone are the days of dry, damaged tresses as people will crave healthy, shiny hair.

diane kruger3.jpg2 Plaits, pleats and braids. Whatever you want to call them, Rapunzel-style plaits are always popular in the summer and this year will be no exception. Whether it is across the hairline a la Matthew Williamson, or hanging down the back partnered with a hat to keep the sun at bay, braids are one of the easiest styles to create.

big hair.jpg3 Big hair. As fashion gets set for a 90s revival, hair will be big, bouncy, voluminous and feminine. Give it a 2010 edge with dry shampoos, hairsprays and plenty of oomph.

William Tempest 1.jpg4 Partings. Side partings transform curls or straight styles, adding a splash of pizzaz to everyday looks. Long hair will be slung over one shoulder for a sultry style.

Matthew Williamson 1.jpg5 Updos. Buns, twists, rolls and chignons will come in all shapes and sizes. They will range from structured smooth buns to dishevelled twists and rolls that sit at the nape of the neck.
