Fresh off the success of her Savage x Fenty Vol 4 fashion show, Rihanna has been taking some time out under the Caribbean sun in Barbados, and as always she's been serving iconic looks, and this time it's box braid charms.
A few weeks ago Rihanna surprised us all with what appeared to be half finished box braids but this time she's back again with a full head of box braids adorned with multi-coloured charms. Whilst summer is not even close to being around the corner for a lot of us, you can expect your clients to be adding this to their wishlist for when holiday season rolls around.
It appears the return to 90s trends isn't going away as curtain bangs, feathered layers and a return to natural, voluminous curls are just some of the hair trends we're noticing across all hair types and textures, and Rihanna's box braid charms is another one to add to the list.
Claire Martin, stylist and Redken Advocate, says that there's also a practicality to Rihanna's latest style: "When it comes to her hair, Rhianna is the queen of experimenting. As a new mum, Rhianna will be busy and box braids are the ultimate lazy girl hair style when it comes to afro hair, there’s no more worrying about what you’re going to do with your hair each morning or moisturising your curls, it’s such an easy to wear style. I love the addition of the beads, paying homage to the 90s which we’ve seen prominent in so many trends this year. It’s great to see Rhianna being playful with her style."
