In London, hundreds gathered at the Royal Horticultural Halls to see the four looks - Celeste, Blaze, Roxy and Grace - interpreted by the teams from Toni & Guy, Marc Antoni and the Wella Generation Now team.

While former winners, including Jake Ungar and Dan Spiller, were on hand to give advice on how to impress the judges.

Alex Zane hosted the fast-paced event, which saw the crowd alternate between six different stages and a central catwalk. Each team gave a detailed explanation of the inspiration behind their looks and the techniques used to create them, before their models took to the central runway to show off the finished results.

Make-up advice was given by John Christopher, who explained looks ranging from the jewel-studded face of futuristic Celeste, to the immaculately-groomed tonal look of Grace.

Top tips for success in the competition were provided by the stylists on stage. Toni & Guy's Sonia Lyon emphasized the importance of putting a personal twist on the looks and doing thorough research.

Dan Spiller from Marc Antoni recommended finding the perfect model and then shaping the trend around her rather than vice versa, while Luke Benson from the Generation NOW team added: "Make sure you actually like your look. If you don't like it, it won't work.

Praise for the competition came from former winners, such as Jake Ungar who said: "I've learnt so much and been able to travel the world. Winning Trend Vision really raises your profile and puts you in the spotlight."

Dan Spiller said winning the competition had given him greater confidence, explaining: "Appearing in all the trade and consumer magazines, and taking part in Paris Fashion Week - these things wouldn't have happened for me without winning awards like this."
