Wella professionals unveils its new hair trend, lumina

With Spring/Summer 2011 round the corner Wella Professionals brought together two of the greatest hairdressers together to create the new Trend Vision looks - Eugene Souleiman and Josh Wood. While Eugene used his session stylist eye to create the looks, Josh brought them to life with colour. There are four trends for this year - here are details on the first one.

DKNY.jpgfendi.jpgLumina explores a world where science meets aesthetics in a new definition of luxury that informs both mood and appearance through textures, colours and fabric finishes. "It's minimal but not in a 90s way," says Eugene. "Soft, more realistic, almost supernatural and elemental, there's a delicacy and constraint to the hair looks."

Lumina takes its inspiration from catwalks such as Rochas, Narciso Rodriguez, Donna Karan and Dolce & Gabbana. "At Narciso Rodriguez there is opulence, shine and curves but the shape is controlled, while at DKNY the hair had a youthful, sporty feeling."

Here he shows how to get the look

DKNY-get the look.jpg1 Apply Velvet Amplified and Perfect Setting to the roots of wet hair.

2 Blow-dry with a round brush to give direction and hold. Dry hair flat to the head for a more sculpted finish.

3 Create a curved part by parting the hair at the side and softly curving it round to the opposite side of the head.

Brush hair down and over the ears and tie in a ponytail at the nape. Fold the tail over on itself to create a lopsided knot.
