The Wella Professionals TrendVision Award has become one of the
biggest hair competitions in the calendar, and for the 2020 edition the competition's format has had a refresh with five completely new categories to enter. Also, with the current climate, the brand made entering simplified so for the first time in the competition's history hopefuls could enter on Instagram. And now after a record number of entries finalists for the photographic stage of the competition have been chosen.
Competitors were asked to simply upload an image that had been created in the last 12 months, using the relevant hashtags. TrendVision is open to anyone living or working in the UK or Ireland, who is either working in a salon or as an independent stylist.
Taking into account the exceptional circumstances of Covid-19, the entry deadline was extended and it was also possible to enter using a mannequin head. All judging was completed digitally, with Judge Darren Ambrose commenting, “The criteria for TrendVision changed this year and it’s been incredible to see the level of creativity and flair that’s been demonstrated. The whole format has been adapted in response to COVID-19 and it’s fantastic that the competition has been able to continue. The entry levels have been overwhelming and been tough choosing the entries that will go on to the next stage."
Next up, the
Digital UK Regional & Ireland Heats will take place where those that have made it through will compete online between 1 – 15 June. This stage of the competition is online-only and involves the photographic winners submitting their original before and after looks from their photographic entry, and recording a short video explaining the technique, inspiration, application and inspiration behind their looks.
