Wella professionals announce xposure 2019 final winners

XPOSURE 2019, Wella Professionals competition for hairdressing students, took place at the Wella World London Studio on 3 June.
The 32 finalists were shortlisted out of hundreds of photographic entries, showcasing their hairdressing skills to create the best commercial cut and colour look. The first stage winners went to the XPOSURE 2019 Regional Heats, which took place around the UK and featured a hair show from the Joseph Ferraro Art Team.
The finalists were required to style their model at the studio, before the catwalks show in front of Wella’s established judges such as
Nicky Clarke, Jordanna Cobella and
Angelo Vallillo.
“All the finalists should be extremely proud of their achievements. The standard was high, and I am really looking forward to developing the winners further in our mentoring day,” said Angelo Vallillo.
The competitors of the final stage were supported by college lecturers and salon managers, and had the opportunity to learn from the hairdressing icons, Medusa’s
Colin McAndrew and
Peter Mellon, as well as Wella’s GenerationNow team, hair demonstrations.
All gold, silver and bronze award winners have not only won a tailor-made mentoring day with XPOSURE 2019 Mentors Angelo Vallillo from DNA Art Space and Peter Mellon from Medusa but also enjoyed a presentation on Wella’s eEducation platform and an insight into 2019 trends.
Mellon congratulated the winners saying: “This is a great competition that recognises future hairdressing talent. The work was very impressive and to reach the final is not easy.”
In addition, Gold awards winners won £1000 tailor-made education programme for their personal development, a hairdressing tool kit worth £500 and a
Wella Professionals XPOSURE trophy, and will have exclusive access to behind-the-scenes experience at the
TrendVision Award 2019 UK & Ireland Final.
Silver and bronze winners also took home Wella tailor-made education programmes, tool kits and trophies.
The winners in the college category are:
- Kirsty Redfern, North Warks & South Leics College (Gold)
- Katie Fellows, Weymouth College (Silver)
- Alix Leckie, Moray College UHI (Bronze)
The winners in the academy category are:
- Shauna Walsh, Crow Street Collective (Gold)
- Leah Hodgkins, Heart of England Training (Silver)
- Dion Logan, Medusa Training (Bronze)
