The Salon International weekend was full of tributes to the late, great Vidal Sassoon, starting with a memorial service at St Paul's cathedral.
A who's who of hairdressing legends, fashion leaders and cultural icons attended the service, which paid tribute to Vidal's life, legacy and influence.

On the Sassoon Academy stand in the Hair Show, tributes were paid on a memorial wall where visitors were encouraged to leave a memory of the hairdressing legend. Messages in a host of languages were left, with a live feed of tweets with the tag #ILoveVidal adding further messages from across the world.

Saturday evening saw international guests welcomed to London by Sassoon, with a gala dinner at the London Film Museum. As well as showcasing the new Sassoon Academy collections, the evening saw international creative director, Mark Hayes, recounting his first meeting with Vidal and ongoing relationship and influence.
The evening also saw the announcement of a new education scholarship, introduced by the Sassoon estate to secure his legacy of training and learning.

The Sassoon Academy show at Salon Live also paid tribute to their founder's work, closing with a poignant recreation of Vidal's famous five-point cut.
Wearing a dress crafted entirely from the 'I Love Sassoon' badges which we handed out on the Sassoon Academy stand over the weekend, the model created the cut and pose made famous by Grace Coddington in Vidal's iconic cut drawing spontaneous applause and a standing ovation from the audience.
The show also saw the Sassoon Academy present a retrospective of their last two collections and a full presentation of their newest collection; Downtown.
The Alternative Hair Show also paid tribute to their late worldwide honorary patron, presenting Vidal's son Elan and daughter Eden with a special contribution award.
With a theme for the evening of 'Legends' it was the perfect opportunity for the industry to say goodbye to an icon in spectacular style.
