competitor-models.jpgHeld at Camden's über cool Roundhouse with man-of-the-moment Steve Jones hosting affairs Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award 08 UK Final was guaranteed to be a spectacular occasion.

And the 700 strong audience were not disappointed, as proceedings kicked off with an awe-inspiring catwalk showcase by a selection of the UK's hottest names in hairdressing and most respected hair icons.

First up was 'The Howl Collection' from Sassoon Academy, which was dedicated to the 'angel-headed hipsters' of America's Beat Generation and Ken Russell's rebellious London Teddy girls 'Bombsite Boudiccas'.

Up next came 'A Touch of Color...The Collection', a presentation inspired by the essence of Color Touch and created by a magical line up of Wella Professionals Master Colour Experts: Cheynes, TONI&GUY, realhair, hob salons and D&J Ambrose with styling by Simon Bryer of Michael Van Clarke.

Then it came down to the serious business of the Trend Vision awards.

Having already fought off competition from around the country, it was another nail-biting day for the 24 talented young stylists and 12 colourists who had made it to the UK Final.

The youngsters had spent the day cutting, colouring and styling their models' hair before applying make-up and clothes to create a total look from this year's four trends: Mineral Splendour, Factory Lyrics, Wonderland and Couture Allure.

They then had just three minutes to present their moodboards and inspiration to the esteemed judging panel of Darren Ambrose from D&J Ambrose, Steven Goldsworthy from Goldsworthy's, Jennifer Cheyne from Cheynes, Robert Eaton from Russell Eaton and HJs deputy editor Ruth Hunsley before the winners were chosen.

Announcing the Trend Vision 08 UK winners, Allison Kirkby, Managing Director of Wella Professionals, said:  "Every individual who has reached the final has achieved a tremendous accomplishment and they, and our winners, should feel very proud of what they have all achieved tonight.

"It is fantastic to see so much passion and creativity and I know our esteemed panel of judges had their work cut out choosing our winners."

She then named Matthew Taylor from Taylor Taylor Hairdressing, Sheffield, and Alex Green from hob salons, Whetstone as the Gold winners in the Color Category and the Young Talent Category respectively.
