Top five updos for spring/summer 2011

When the going gets hot, hair goes up! With balmy nights and scorching days a distant memory, it isn't long before the Spring/Summer 2011 season will be on the horizon, so get set for a flurry of updos that will take you from day to night.



1 Add a little ladylike luxe with a simple knot, as seen at Thomas Tait. The bow-like appearance looks effective and adds interest to any neckline.

thomas-tait.jpg2 Over at Bernard Chandran, asymmetry is the name of the game. Darren Fowler for L'Oreal Professionnel slicked hair into a low side bun which complements the glowing skin and fine, big eyelashes.

bernard-chandran.jpg3 Add a hint of retro glamour with this look at Caroline Charles. Guy Kremer rolled the ponytail into a floral chignon, with the fringe into a forward side roll for a 40s feeling.

caroline-charles.jpg4 Odile Gilbert created an elegant, spontaneous updo for the Suno show. The unstructured back adds a touch of naivety while the front and sides are smooth and shiny.

suno.jpg5 Over at Simone Rocha, texture makes a plaited knot centre of attention. Twisted up to the crown, the crimped ends were left free for a messy, just-got-out-of-bed feel.
