TONI&GUY Billericay Celebrates 20 Years

It’s an exciting year for TONI&GUY Billericay as the salon celebrates its 20-year anniversary.

Established in July 2003, Jim Shaw and his sister Maria opened the TONI&GUY Billericay salon, growing it into the reputable and award-winning salon it is today, with many of the original staff still working in the salon today.

The team prioritise training, are ahead of the trends and constantly adapt and evolve with the ever-changing world of hairdressing, which has led them to grow and succeed despite challenges including recessions and Covid 19.

In 2007, Jim opened another salon, directly opposite the road from the original salon, a TONI&GUY Men’s Concept Salon. This was an incredible success and one of the first of its kind, merging hairdressing and barbering together, however, when commercial rents went up, Jim decided to merge the two salons into one. Now, the TONI&GUY Billericay salon boasts a dedicated space for men in the salon, with barber chairs and a larger selection of hair and beauty treatments to cover all male client’s needs.

The TONI&GUY salon is not only a hub for the local community, but it also attracts high profile influencers and celebrities due to the salon’s high recognition via its many awards and representation at some of the most renowned events.

Some of the salon’s most coveted awards include Jim winning Men’s Hairdresser of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards 2007, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, and Jim and Premier Stylist at the salon, Daisy Carter, winning the award in 2019. The success of the salon is not limited to individual awards with the salon also winning Team of the Year three times at the TONI&GUY Awards, being placed on the coveted Hall of Fame.

TONI&GUY’s commitment to making a positive impact goes beyond the realm of hairstyling. Through their annual charity balls, they have raised thousands of pounds for various charitable causes. This philanthropic spirit reflects their dedication to giving back to the community that has supported them throughout their remarkable journey.

Jim has travelled around the world, including in America and Hong Kong, teaching some of the world’s biggest salons his men’s hairdressing skills and techniques. His training and mentorship are highly sought after and has led him to be the director of many photoshoots for hairdressing professionals, helping them to achieve their own awards.

Commenting on the 20-year anniversary, Jim said: “It’s an exciting year for TONI&GUY Billericay as we celebrate our 20-year anniversary. Me and my sister run the salon together and it’s incredible to see how the salon, and the team, have grown throughout the years, the challenges we have been able to overcome and the many achievements and successes we have attained. Many of the team are still with us today, and some have helped to open their very own salons, and this is something I am so incredibly proud of. Here’s hoping there is another incredible 20 years ahead for our salon! We can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
