Toni and guy fuse london fashion week inspirations with artelier collection
TONI&GUY fused fashion week inspirations with commercial cuts and colour as they introduced their new collection, Artelier, to Salon International.
As well as presenting the ten new cuts and colours that will be launched into TONI&GUY salons across the world, the team also presented the new label.m campaign, London Fashion Week looks and a spectacular array of avant garde styles.
The show opened with the introduction of the Artelier collection - eight women's looks and two male styles referencing a combination of fashion week trends and pop culture references. Inspirations ranged from Blondie to haute couture but the overriding influence - fittingly for 2012 - was Great Britain. Bridget Riley, Alexander McQueen and the great British teatime all played their part with colours and finishes all inspired by these homegrown iconic.
Next it was time to see some looks inspired by the TONI & GUY team's works at London Fashion Week. This year marks their 17th season as sponsors to the shows, with 42 designers requesting their work backstage for Spring/Summer 2013. Texture, waves, braids and volume all played a part but the fashion influence was evident throughout the show with many looks inspired by catwalk work.
And rather than directly recreating catwalk styles, the inspiration went deeper with layered contrasting fabrics referenced in cuts, jewelled embellishment inspiring textured cuts and textile prints inspiring colour placement.
Next up was a showcase of the latest label.m campaign; textured looks full of urban cool and street-style inspired finishes. Product choice, unsurprisingly, proved key with Richard Mannah explaining that along with a great cut, "products are what makes great hair."
The show closed with a spectacular showcase of avant-garde hair, headed up by HJ's current Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year, Indira Schauwecker. Sculptural, packed with texture, artfully coloured and complemented with breathtaking couture creations, it was the perfect finish to a show packed with non-stop hairdressing inspiration.
