Toni & guy style hair for up and coming designers' collections

Now in its sixth season Vauxhall Fashion Scout at London Fashion Week is London's largest catwalk event for emerging designers.

TONI&GUY Session, who are among the event's sponsors, are tasked with creating on trend hairstyles to complement many of the up-and-coming designers' collections on the catwalk.

The Collection

Attention to detail - Colourful ensembles embellished with woven plaits and oversized bows.  From masculine tailoring to elegant red carpet affairs.

Hair Inspiration

Creating a raw and lived in texture - very 09 on-trend.  A London feel of unkempt, yet fashionable hair.  Incorporating details such as dreadlock style fish plaits.

How To

Volume Mousse was blasted into the hair to add copious texture throughout the lengths.  Fish plaits were then randomly placed and manipulated to take on a dreadlock appearance.  The hair was finished with label.m Resurrection Style Dust to introduce a dusty texture and then pinned messily to suit the individual model.

Focusing on a muse of natural science including Jellyfish and Sea Shells.  A beautiful collection of solely black billowing silk attire with intricate shapes and layering.

Modular modernity! Pseudo-bobs moulded into sculptural shapes for an elegant, yet intriguing design. 

How To

The hair was blow-dried smooth and then heavily coated with label.m Hair Polish to give a glossy, lacquered texture and then pinned under into a pseudo-bob.  Shapes were then manipulated at the back of the head to suit the individual model.

Cool, young and clashing - a fusion of strength and texture.  Maintaining a fluid element of sleekness throughout the four shows. 

How To

For every look the hair was prepped with volume mousse, blasting the hair from ends to mid-lengths first and then from the front of the head blow-drying the hair smooth down to the mid-lengths. Use hairspray to create wet and mouldable texture and then finishing with label.m Wax Stick for slickness.  Hair was manipulated to suit each collection, including waves, plaits and shapes.

Volume mousse, hairspray and wax stick, cushion brush, pintail comb, pins and grips.

Sleek, poker straight hair with 'rocking' attitude!

How To

Load the hair with volume mousse and blow-dry straight with a large round brush. Coat hair with dry shampoo section by section, before using straightening irons. Finish with a light dusting of label.m Resurrection Style Dust around the root area.

Summer Holiday, the paradox of the British who fly away for the winter to hotter climates and the 'backwardness' of its concept. High Volume dresses and jumpsuits, with a mixture of light and heavy fabrics.

Early 90's simplicity - creating the reverse.

How To

Load the hair with volume mousse and blow-dry straight with a large round brush. Divide the hair into equal halves, then plait the back section to the head to create a base to support the graphic androgynous masks. Pull the rest of the hair forward, across the face and divide with the fingers to create a natural parting. Fix in a simplistic, natural knot below the chin, to create a pony-tail finish.

'Dangerous Elegance' - the collection utilises soft, luxurious fabrics, against harsh metal details, chains and needles are powerful and abstractly beautiful on the silhouette, while draped silk dresses encapsulate ultimate femininity.

Embracing the detail in the collection the hair was staged around artificial texture and introduced woven chain braiding into a polished bun.

How To

The hair was prepped using volume mousse, blow-dried smooth and then ironed to create a workable texture. The hair was then fastened into a high ponytail at the crown and woven hair pieces were coiled and stitched into a bun-like shape.

The ultimate chic collection - slouchy and luxurious evening-wear fused with sharp lined, intricate Men's Tailoring.  Utilising a vast palette of subdued and vibrant hues from 'Classic' Crème to stunning 'Royal' Blue.

Soft and feminine geometric shapes, with reference to jaunty hats. Incorporating splashes of colour to complement each look.   

How To

The hair was blow-dried with volume mousse and then fastened in a tight ponytail at the front of the head, coiled into a tight bun and offset to the right.  Then pre-made, sculpted hair pieces were fitted over the top and secured with a hair net.

A striking architectural exterior, with hidden feminine detailing - conceal and reveal!

How To

The hair was prepped with label.m Volume Mousse and then secured into a

scalp-tight ponytail just below the occipital bone.  The length of the ponytail was rope plaited and coiled into a circular shape.  Pre-made cubes of hair were then placed over the top, so that the plait was visible.  A sculpture within a sculpture.

Hair was blow dried with label.m Volume Mousse and then taken into a tight ponytail before being straightened and trimmed. V section from the front is set with waving irons and then sewn into place and secured with label.m Hairspray. Flyaway strands are tamed down with label.m Hair Polish and Shine Spray to give a super smooth finish.

The Collection

A retrospective of Harriet's Muse's previous collections to capture the identity of the brand and to bring it forward for this season. Think gothic fairytale with a grown up feel.

How To

Hair was prepped with label.m Hairspray and Volume Mousse before being sectioned and crimped. Hair was then brushed out and fixed with elastic at the end and worked into an avant-garde shape and held in place with pins.

 The Collection

Lavish ball gowns create a sense of fantasy and are embellished with humorous 'Credit Crunch' slogans encrusted with showgirl sequins and diamantes. 

Soft pinks partnered with strong blacks and bold prints that represent rich embroidery. Jewellery box dancing girls further enhance an edgy vibe.

The King and I made cool. Textured Turbans made out of hair, grand and beautiful. 

How To

Texture is key - prep the hair by backcombing section by section, coat the hair with hairspray, comb through and then straighten. Brush out the hairspray take a triangular section of hair in the middle of the front hairline and create a tight pony. Section by section bring the remaining hair forward and wrap around the pony creating a turban like shape, secure with pins and grips.

The Collection

Young emerging design talent. Given a specific briefing each designer created a contemporary collection with their own interpretation of Science-Fiction.

A modern take on a 60's conventional bob structure - resembling a bubble helmet shape. 

How To

The hair was prepped with label.m Volume Mousse and blasted dry.  Then section by section was crimped, using label.m Hairspray to hold the waves.  To create volume the hair was thoroughly backcombed under the horse shoe section and slightly on the roots.  Then the hair was rolled under to a bob length and pinned into place.  Using hands and label.m Shine Mist to clean the hairline and flatten the top of the head - exaggerating the bubble shape at the back.

Early '80's Siouxsie and the Banshees, Electric Ballroom Camden, meets Tim Burton.

How To

Hair was loaded with label.m hairspray then sectioned and crimped from root to tip. A centre parting was created and made clean with label.m Hair Polish. The back section was then backcombed, rolled under and secured with hair grips to create volume, the top layer left to hang loose and create floatyness.
