Time out to support charity

No matter how busy I am, I always make sure I find time for my chosen charities - in particular The British Association Of Adoption & Fostering, which supports adopted children, parents and professionals. Being an adopted child myself I, along with Claire Grogan, Nicky Campbell and others, am a Patron of the charity.

Andrew Barton at the O2 ArenaI was recently asked to co-host and share my experience as an adopted child at a spectacular concert called Voice In A Million at the London O2 Arena to a packed-out audience of 12,500. The Voice In A Million concert brought 7,500 children (including Editor In Chief of HJ Jayne Lewis-Orr's twin boys) together  to sing and  raise awareness for adoption and children who need a family for life. I am committed to the cause and was thrilled to be asked to present and share my experience of being adopted.

Voice in a Million Choir performing at the O2 ArenaMuch of my life is focused around my career and business successes and it's great to be involved in something that means so much to me and helps me step away from that focus and gives me the opportunity to help others. I'm thrilled that my business and public profile can help to raise awareness for The British Adoption and Fostering Association.  After my wedding and being crowned British Hairdresser Of The year, presenting at this wonderful event has to be one of the best nights of my life!

Adoption is an emotive issue and one that is surrounded by myth, legend and stigma. In the UK alone there are over 4,000 children waiting for a Forever Family, so if the little bit I and this concert does can create just one more family then it's all worthwhile, because, every child deserves a family.
