tim-hartley150.gifTim Hartley is, quite simply, one of the world's greatest hairdressers. After a 30-year career at Vidal Sassoon, culminating in his renowned role as International Creative Director, Tim has left the corporate world to concentrate on his own stunning visions of hair design.

For over 30 years he's been inspiring generations of young hairdressers with his passionate approach to hair, cutting edge aesthetic and technical expertise.

Recent work has been inspired by the most diverse of influences: Man Ray's Surrealist fashion photography, Gilbert and George's performance art, 1920s cabaret and low-fi street style. His advice to the next generation? "Be open-minded, seek out diversity, find a great mentor, work hard and love what you do, love it every day."

What's your favourite Salon International memory?

This has to be my debut show in 06 as a solo artist. The moment I realised Vidal Sassoon was in the audience I was so proud and emotional at the same time. My dreams coming together!

What do you get out of your Salon International visit?

For me this is a chance to be part of an amazing team. So much energy and creativity in one place. It's also a chance for me to catch up with people from all over the globe and of course, some scissor comb and brush shopping

What will you be doing at this year's exhibition?

This year I will be at Salon Live showing my new collection and expanding Tim Hartley Education and the creative team.

Who are what inspires you most at the exhibition?

The diversity of the audience is a real buzz that makes me feel part of something unique.

What's your top tip for first time visitors?

Book early for the Tim Hartley show and of course wear comfortable shoes !! Stay at one of the great hotels near the venue so you don't have to get up too early.

What's in your Salon International Survival Kit?

The great thing is you can buy good coffee and a newspaper in the morning, also a nice glass of red wine at the end of the day. Perfect!

What's your Salon International soundtrack?

Hercules And Love Affair - fantastic dance music

Lynsey De Paul - Lynsey Sings.

Seventies kitsch - Sugar Me is the best!

Grace Jones - Fame

Hot Chip - Made In The Dark

Holst - Venus, The Bringer Of Peace...Amazing classical sound!

Sum up Salon International in three words
