Tigi makes waves at london college of fashion graduate show
What: London College of Fashion BA Show
Where: The Studio, Paddington, London
What happened: TIGI styled the fashion stars of the future at London College of Fashion's graduate show
Confirming a dedicated commitment to the catwalks, TIGI styled the hair for 65 models at the London College of Fashion BA Fashion show.
Held at cool London warehouse space, The Studio in Paddington, the high-profile graduate show marked the end of three years' hard work for the students, and the results were as colourful and creative as ever.
Working with 25 students meant 25 extremely different collections, and with each model changing her outfit at least twice, a hairstyle had to be chosen that would work with each eclectic look and last throughout the show.
Creative director of the TIGI academy, Maria Kovacs, said: "We were inspired by hair trends from the Autumn/Winter 2011 shows, and decided on a sleek ponytail with a smooth crown and no parting.
"We tied the tail, straightened the lengths, then wrapped a small strand of hair around the tie and pinned it into place to cover. The hair was sprayed with Catwalk by TIGI Sleek Mystique Look Lock hairspray to finish."
Men's looks were styled using a similar technique for a slicked-back style that combined elements of traditional 1950's grooming with an 1980s wet-look finish. The final vibrant collection saw ponytails roughly plaited with multi-coloured extensions for a quirky, cool style, with a slightly DIY feel.
