These are the must-have new shades for your clients in 2023

2023 is fast approaching and your clients are most likely going to go through the ‘new year, new me’ stage, and what better way than to change their hair? We spoke to industry experts on the must-have new shades for your clients, so you’re ready and raring to go when they walk through the salon doors.

Girl-Next-Door Copper

Girl-Next-Door Copper is the ultimate blend of copper and gold. Douglas Reid, Eleven Australia Educator tells us: “This trend is about keeping the hair natural looking, light reflective, and not too bold.” Laura Thornhill, Moroccanoil Educator recommends using Moroccanoil Color Depositing Mask in Copper and Bordeaux to maintain the perfect copper tones.

Midnight

Midnight Must-have new shades

“A deep, dark and expensive-looking option, Midnight is a vivid colour that suits so many skin tones and exudes pure class. It’s a colour that never goes out of style for me,” says Lydia Wolfe, Goldwell Guest Artist. “The shade however, will have a tendency to lose vibrancy, so it’s important to ensure that clients rebook for a refresh in 4-6 weeks. For this, I recommend Goldwell’s Elumen Play. Plus, ensure to offer your client the best take-home products to care for their colour in between visits.”

Cosy Blonde

“An embellishment of bronzes, honey and almond shades, Cosy Blonde is an ultra low-maintenance trend that is still indulgent. Freehand woven techniques are perfect to create the harmonious trend – leave a subtle natural root to set these shades alight,” says Claire Chell, Uberliss Educator. “Condition is paramount, so using a bond regenerator within your colour glazes and tonal shades is a must to repair and rebuild any broken bonds – it will leave the hair healthier and shinier. Bond regenerator stand-alone treatments are the perfect add-on treatment service to help your clients strengthen and regenerate their Cosy Blonde.”

Tweed Blonde

“For Winter, clients are embracing a neutral, natural blonde, with cool and warm tones finely woven together to create this harmonious blonde look,” says Jordanna Cobella, Wella Professionals. “The multi-dimensional look imitates how light would reflect on natural hair, creating a sun-kissed look. Wella Professionals’ new in-salon Shinefinity service is perfect for achieving this look. The Shinefinity glazes can be woven throughout the hair to create a tweed effect, and because they’re zero damage, they add a healthy-looking shine to the hair.”

Anime Pink

Anime Pink hair

Jenn Linton, L’Oréal Professionnel Paris tells us: “There’s always a place for pops of fun colour in the salon and this season it’s all about pink! Anime Pink is a soft, bubblegum pink but it has to pack a punch. Don’t go too pastel, as it needs to be strong with a high gloss finish. You can achieve this look by using L’Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox to ensure to keep the best quality of hair and the cleanest life. Next, use the correct L’Oréal Professionnel lightener to get a pale blonde, and finally intermix tones and experiment with the new L’Oréal Dia Light Boosters to achieve that pink.”
