The Wella Company announces the success of 24 students who have achieved the Wella Colour Higher Level Diploma – the company’s  . It is effectively a colour degree level diploma.

The 24 expert colourists took 20 months to complete this highly intensive course and celebrated their success at a formal graduation ceremony on 1st November at Glasgow University’s Clyde College.

The Wella Colour Higher Level Diploma is an industry first, a groundbreaking SCQF Level 9 qualification, which recognises the professionalism and technical acumen needed to be a true hair colour expert.

The syllabus is structured between Glasgow Clyde College and Wella’s senior education team which rewards colourists with advanced technical, creative and leadership skills. The course includes exhaustive hair colour techniques and addresses subjects such as the biology and chemistry of hair, a unit on psychology with factors related to mental health, abuse, personality traits, wellbeing, client safeguarding responsibilities, leadership, and considerations for maintaining sustainable and profitable business practices.

Part of the course is a highlight for many and gives the exclusive opportunity to witness cutting-edge hair colour innovation firsthand: a tour of Wella's historic headquarters and R&D centre in Darmstadt, Germany, giving insights into the meticulous process behind developing a leading professional hair colour portfolio.

Says Wella’s Senior Education Manager, Paul Fensome: “We are absolutely thrilled about the brilliant success of year one of this course. It’s an incredibly challenging syllabus with academic modules designed to push experienced colourists to the limit. All 24 students, which comprised 22 external and 2 internal students, passed the course, which certainly bodes well for the future of this degree course and the ongoing delivery of hair colour excellence for UK clients.”
