HJi speaks to a selection of inspirational rising hairdressing stars who have already made an impact on the industry.
Dan Spiller
At the age of 26, Dan Spiller is director of the Marc Antoni salon in Fleet, Hampshire. He has a host of awards under his belt including HJ's 2010 Newcomer of the Year and Wella Professionals 2010 Trend Vision Award, Young Talent Gold.
"I've been in the industry for 10 years and enjoyed every minute. I joined Marc Antoni as an apprentice in 2001 and qualified as a stylist within two years. I have worked my way up through the salon and jumped at every opportunity to better myself as a hairdresser."
"For me, colour is as important in creating a look as the cut and styling. Colour can create an impact and there are endless ways to be creative. The relationship between cut and colour is essential, without the one, the other just doesn't look as good. Colour changes the way people feel about themselves and looks beautiful when executed correctly. What is there not to love?"
"I'm very excited about my future. I hope to continue working with the Marc Antoni artistic team, and I'm constantly pushing myself creatively as much as possible."
What advice would you give to other youngsters?
"If you fail the first time, keep going! Stay true to what you believe in, but don't be too proud, and take the advice given to you."
