The Grammy Awards never disappoint when it comes to eye-catching fashion and unforgettable hair moments. From Beyoncé's sleek, platinum blonde locks (shoutout to her stylist who was on hand with a brush throughout the ceremony) to bold looks that push boundaries, this year’s style was as groundbreaking as the industry records that were broken. So, let's take a look at the best hair looks from music’s biggest night.
Willow Smith – Chris Grimley, Textured Hair Specialist, owner of Fusion Hair Co, and Textured Curl Academy
Willow Smiths voluminous, soft, fluffy afro was a beautiful celebration of her natural texture. The centre parting and gently picked-out sections enhanced the fullness and created a stunning half effect around her face. The shape worked harmoniously with her natural curls, giving the overall look an airy and weightless feel. The glossy sheen added depth, while the movement and volume made the style look both striking and effortless, with a bold yet refined approach.
Lady Gaga – Michael Rackett, RUSH Artistic Team, RUSH Hair
It was great to see so much variation when it came to the hair on last nights Grammys Red Carpet, and I for one loved Lady Gaga’s sharp geometric cut, which was a real head-turner, matched with her gothic-inspired gown. With such a strong style, it was important to get the correct balance between the hair, makeup and styling to ensure the look came together perfectly. Although kept simple and sleek, the pairing of a short, micro fringe and face-framing front sections, along with the sleek, long cut, ensured the look was a head-turner for all the right reasons. The addition of a high-shine finish brought the look to a luxurious level.
Sabrina Carpenter – Nicholas James, Celebrity Hairstylist and owner of Nicholas James Hair
Sabrina Carpenter's updo was one of my favourite looks of the night, leaving everyone wondering if she had transformed her famous Disney princess hair into a chic faux bob. It was a stunning interpretation of classic old Hollywood glamour. The soft, flirty style featured face-framing curls that created the illusion of a shorter, glamorous haircut. By choosing a French twist while maintaining her signature style presented a fresh take on her usual look. It was both beautifully undone but yet perfectly refined, which worked perfectly for the red carpet! It is an extremely versatile choice that would work for various occasions, such as weddings or galas or if you want to strike a balance between polished but not overly done.
Beyoncé – Leo ‘Brian’ McCallum, Owner of ROAR Hair & Beauty and UK & IRE Goldwell Educator
Queen B once again rocked the red carpet with her gorgeous icy blonde, sleek style. Wearing an amazing gold western-inspired gown, which worked in tandem with her gorgeous, blonde locks. Sleek and subtle, the ice-blonde colour really complimented the golden gown. It goes to show that you don’t need the most extravagant hairstyle to make a statement – ensuring that every element compliments each other is the way to go. The biggest thing to remember when creating the gorgeous sleek look is that it is essential hair is healthy to carry off the style. When it is a sleek style, the damage is much more evidently seen – therefore, use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner and ensure that the hair is as healthy as can be.
Shakira – Suzie McGill, Fellowship for British Hairdressings Hairdresser of the Year and International Artistic Director of Rainbow Room International.
Shakira's look at last night's Grammy Awards Ceremony was a perfect homage to her signature hairstyle, enhanced with a red-carpet finish. Her hair cascaded down in voluminous curls that felt soft, effortless, and perfectly shaped. For me, this look was all about the texture; it was well-defined but not overly styled, allowing for natural bounce and fluidity. The styling was meticulous but not forced, this approach ensures that natural texture is enhanced rather than overpowered and the result is the right amount of polished refinement without looking too controlled. It's a look that felt both spontaneous yet perfectly executed.
Kelsea Ballerini – Celebrity Hairdresser Jay Birmingham, owner of Haircare by Jay Birmingham
My favourite look from The Grammys was Kelsea Ballerini – she looks absolutely gorgeous. Known for her country music, she looked sensational, opting for long, flowing waves with volume at the roots. Wearing a black and white plunging ensemble, the long blonde locks flowing over the shoulder paired perfectly for this look. Beginning with a side parting, focus heat on the roots, using a large barrel brush to create volume and encourage lift – this will set the hair above the rest. Next, you want to create that must-have bouncy blow-dry, again using your large barrel brush, dry the hair around the brush, creating large wave curls – pinning the hair loosely to cool. Once cool, lightly unravel the pin curls and very carefully brush through. Finish with a shine spray, to look that glamorous finish.
