The industry’s future looks bright

Among all of the stylish, slick and inspiring shows at Salon International, one of the more fascinating was that of Tigi's Inspirational Youth. While it may have lacked the polish of some of the shows from more rehearsed, more experienced hairdressers; it showed that the future of the industry is in safe hands. From very commercial looks, adding modern twists to classic shapes such as dark glossy bobs and long cascading curls, to more editorial looks, with teased out crimping and high volume to the fore, it was a completely on-trend collection.

And while each of the 11 up-and-coming stylists put their own style and personality into their models, they worked together as a team to create a collection of complementary looks and styles. What's exciting about Tigi's Inspirational Youth is that the young hairdressers only meant six months ago and prior to that had no - or very little - experience of presenting on stage. The youngsters, from all different backgrounds, were hand-picked based on a biography and some questions about their interests, and have been educated in team work, photo shoots and presentation by the Tigi team.As compere Nick Irwin, said "These are the future of the industry" and if their hour-and-a-half display is anything to go for it's a very rosy future.
