The Hush Cut Hair Trend is Set to Dominate This Autumn

We’re back with another hair trend that seems to be dominating amongst social media users right now, just in time for autumn. And contrary to the name it’s being referred to on TikTok, we’re ready to shout about it as the latest go-to style. Enter the Hush Cut…

Originating from Korea, the Hush Cut is becoming more and more popular due to its low maintenance and versatility, proving to suit a number of different face shapes. “Think of a softer version of the wolf cut, with soft layers and graduation maintaining length in the hair for manageable style – which is all clients are craving right now,” says Stacey Whyte, Director of Cheveux Salon.

“Being a soft haircut with added movement manipulated into the hair, it gives a whole lease of life. Even if clients are in the mood to pull it off their face, the soft fringes and face shaping falling down is beautiful.”

And it’s perfect for clients with finer hair. “With clever use of the face framing layers and fringe, this haircut can be tailored to suit any face shape but would work best on hair that is on the finer and smoother side,” Claire Keith, Salon Manager at Architect Hair, tells us. “Think the clients who want a shag, but don’t want a shag…”

But just how do you create this style on your clients? “I would use a disconnected horseshoe section and then over direct the underneath section to keep weight in the top and length through the bottom,” says Claire. “Then, personalise the shape through the front, dry, to suit the client’s specifications.” And for styling: “My hero product would be mousse to give structure on fine hair wanting to hold movement,” she adds.

True to its name, the hush cut celebrates the soft and subtle details – it’s all about embracing that natural movement for an effortless look. We just can’t stay ‘hush’ with the hush cut!
