charles-worthington-night.jpgWhen HJi heard that the House of Charles Worthington were opening its doors to The Fellowship for a presentation of the Tectonic Collection, we wanted to share the evening with our readers.

Fortunately, British Hairdressing Business Awards Hall of Fame member Victor Pajak of Headquarters was happy to share his experiences with you.

Here is Victor's summary of the event...

"The evening started with welcome drinks and canapés in the reception area. The room was small and cosy and as numbers were limited, it all felt very informal.

"Charles, Carolyn Newman and other members of the artistic team mingled with the guests and made us feel very welcome before Charles made an introduction and explained the purpose of the evening - to preview the Tectonic Collection.

"The 24 'guests' were split into three manageable groups and taken on tours of the salon which has five floors.

"We then enjoyed three separate presentations; firstly, by the artistic team manager, Andrew John, who explained the inspiration and the making of the Tectonic Collection.

"The crux of the collection was haircuts with strong edges but gentle disconnections to give a feminine feel achieved by using triangular and teardrop sectioning. Strong fringes gave consistency to long or short looks.

"Next, we went to a different floor to have a presentation by Carolyn Newman on two models, one blonde and the other red.

"She called her technique "Delux glazing" which added great shine to her dramatic colour creations. The main emphasis was to ensure that any of the techniques used were simple enough to teach and be re-used commercially in the salon.

"The final demo was by Massey, the craft development manager, who showed off two looks one short and one long. The focus being on texture and soft undercutting resulting in versatile looks.

"We were then invited back into the reception room where we all compared notes. The general consensus was that it had been a great success.

"What set the event apart for me was how relaxed it had been. I'd felt like a guest in someone's own home which, Charles Worthington had said to me at the beginning of the evening, was the whole idea.
