The doors that hairdressing can open

Published 25th Sep 2011 by Kate Woods

When I was at school, one of my good friends wanted to be a hairdresser. She was told by a careers advisor she was too clever and it would limit her.

That careers advisor should sit down with Annie Humpheys and I guarantee he would have a re-think.

While we have been in Paris for the La Biosthetique International Beauty Stylist Award she has wowed me with her tales of travellong round the world with the trade. Tales include a trip to Bogota, when a coup happened, working in Puerto Rico with no water and six weeks in Tokyo.

You can hardly say hairdressing has held her back!

And now that she doesn't colour hair anymore, Annie is still travelling... as an ambassador for the industry, a judge or a prize giver. Amazing
