Inspired by the desire to provide equal access to barber education, Styling Products UK and MTE Hairdressing and Barbering Education have teamed up with Denman Professional and Andis to address social injustice in colleges across the UK. The new Barbering Community Project offers colleges free access to professional tools and learning resources for learners whose circumstances make purchasing impossible.
The initiative is born out of a deep-seated belief that supporting budding barbers through their journey will transform the future of individuals facing restricted circumstances.
Mike Taylor of MTE Hairdressing and Barbering Education says: “I work with many colleges and I know that long waits for bursaries can delay students in starting their practical training, with some learners waiting over four months for their kits. The Barbering Community Project provides colleges with free tools so that learners can start training on day one.”
What Free Tools Do Students Have Access To?
- Andis Pro-Foil Shaver
- Andis Galaxy Clipper
- Andis Galaxy Trimmer
- Full set of Denman Barber brushes and combs
- MTE Barbering Resource Book
- Access to the MTE Education Zone
How Do Students Get Free Access?
The college tutor/lecturer applies on behalf of the learner that they wish to nominate. The Barbering Community Project requires a college tutor/lecturer to sponsor the college nomination for the free college kits. Applications are open now and close on 30 June 2024. Each applicant must share why they believe their students would benefit from the Barbering Community Project. You can access the application form here.
