How would you describe your business?
We opened the stand alone men's salon in 2007 . It was a former tobacconist next to our ladies salon. We have a lot of barber shops in Hereford but wanted to be the first to open a Men's Hairdressing salon. We offer 30-minute appointments and encourage men to make appointments.
Describe your location and the kind of client you attract
The salon is situated in Church Street which is a quaint street that leads to Hereford Cathedral. We attract a huge variety of clients from members of our football team, professionals to students and young children. We also have a lot of grooms coming in on the morning of their wedding for a wet shave.
What were the biggest challenges faced in 2012 and how did you face them?
This year the biggest challenge we faced was training staff to meet demand to grow the business. The most important thing is excellent client care. We always reinforce our strap line with our staff - "to be a centre of excellence in hairdressing".
What plans do you have for 2013?
In 2013 we would like to see a growth in men's colour. We do a lot of men's colour but I feel there is still enormous potential. I am also looking to open another men's salon in the very near future.
