What does the Tangle Teezer 3 Steps to Healthier Hair system mean to you? Every hairbrush in our range offers a solution to a different need. We’ve divided and categorised our collection into three steps Detangling, Blow-Drying and Styling. To me it’s all about the science behind the hairbrushes, we’ve been able to recognise problems within each category and given the solutions that people need for individual hair types such as regular and thick and curly. How crucial is education when it comes to healthy hair? Education is at the forefront of everything we do. With all our products there’s a technique that must be used to get the best results. Education on how to use the products is key for us, we want to offer the best possible information that we can for hair stylists to be able to make a truly informed decision about what’s best for the client’s individual hair. What is the importance of using the correct hairbrush for each step? It goes without saying that it’s extremely important for stylists to be using the correct hairbrushes as they all serve a different purpose and offer different results. We’ve been hugely successful with our detangling hairbrushes as they are so user friendly and have become an essential part of any hairdresser’s kit, making the brand known globally. After the success of our detangling range, our goal is to create awareness and education with our Blow-Styling tools ensuring the industry knows the amazing innovation and benefits to the stylist and client. This echoed to us how important it is to educate not just stylists but consumers too, detangling is a huge part of who we are, but I’d like to think we’re now respected for what we can offer with our Blow-Styling and Styling tools. What is the key driver for you when creating a new hairbrush? For us, it’s about identifying a problem and working out how we can solve this with our technology. All our hairbrushes have revolutionary patented two-tiered teeth technology but have different shapes and stiffer or softer gradients of materials. Our hairbrushes can’t be used like other hairbrushes and I wouldn’t want them to be, as then I wouldn’t be creating a solution, I’d just be adding to the problem that’s already there. So far, we’ve managed to solve every hair problem out there with our teeth, and will continue to do so when the next problem comes along. Personally as the Tangle Teezer founder I feel like there’s nothing our teeth technology could not solve in the hair industry. Do you believe innovation is key to healthy hair? I wouldn’t say this is the case with all innovation, but I am 100% confident that this statement is true when it comes to my innovation. I have 35 years of hairdressing experience and the way we moved forward with innovation back then didn’t necessarily mean the hair was in any better condition than it was before the innovation was introduced. The innovation that I can offer the hairdresser is so vast that some people don’t understand it. Again, it was easier to introduce with detangling as hairdressers never really considered this as skill based and so welcomed it with open arms. With Blow-Styling, we’ve actually worked with the science of the hair which means reducing the amount of heat used but still achieving the same results. We want to give the hairdresser and the client the option to achieve superior results without using excessive amounts of heat with the resulting outcome being healthier hair.
