So much can change in 60 years and the landscape of the UK hair and beauty industry has definitely seen many innovations and changes since 1959. But since its arrival in the UK that very year Takara Belmont has grown to become the
heritage brand it is, furnishing the floors of countless salons around the world.
Takara Belmont's arrival in the UK was perfectly timed as the conservative post-war 1950s gave way to the swinging 1960s. In the years that followed, the hairdressing industry saw an eclectic array of trends that impacted on hair, fashion and, of course, interior design.
Since the brand's inception in Japan in 1921, Takara Belmont was always going to expand globally. London was an obvious choice for Takara Belmont with it being a hot-bed for fashion trends and in the UK's capital the company embarked on a revolution of its own.
The brand's forward thinking and innovation perspective over the years have allowed them to draw on global trends, unique cultural aspects, emerging fashions, art and design to construct a new approach to furniture and equipment design and manufacturing, and the application of technology. The brand has been an early adopter and first to market on many milestone products, such as the first motorised styling chair in 1962 and the first-ever foldaway basin system just a year later in 1963.
The craftsmanship and technology enthused in the design over the years has given their many products longevity in the ever-growing salon interiors market and certainly will see them through 60 more years of innovation.
